The IIUM Breast Centre, International Islamic University Malaysia commenced operations in April 2004, to provide breast imaging as its core activity for the early detection of breast cancer. It is designed as a One-Stop Centre to provide a comprehensive diagnostic service to those with a breast-related complaint. It functions as a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
It was set up with the main objective of addressing the relative scarcity of breast imaging facilities in the east coast belt of West Malaysia. Radiology specialists and medical radiography technicians from the International Islamic University Malaysia make up the majority of its staff members. Other secondary objectives include the provision of support and resources for breast cancer patients and their relatives, and a research infrastructure into the disease by compiling a register of breast cancer patients in Pahang state.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in Malaysia, and annually accounts for approximately a third of all new cancers amongst Malaysian women. There is a need to increase breast cancer awareness amongst Malaysian women. The Centre provides out-reach programmes on a regular basis to different sectors of the community upon invitation.
