CONVOCATION Attire for Graduands

The convocation attire must be worn by all graduands of the above kulliyyahs/centres during the convocation ceremony.
The convocation attire comprises three items:

1. Robe
2. Headgear
   - Mortar Board (Undergraduate, Master and Post Graduate Diploma)
   - Beefeater (PhD student)
   -Cream Coloured Scarf (for female graduands only)
3. Hood

Female students with long hair are recommended to tie up their hair lower down the neck to avoid difficulties in wearing the mortar board.

Dress Code

All graduands must observe the following dress code:

1. Malaysian Male Graduates
   Dark 'baju melayu' with 'songket sampin', or dark lounge suit.
    
2. Non-Malaysian Male Graduates
   Dark national dress is allowed, but this must be long sleeved and ankle-length.
   Dark lounge suits are also allowed.
    
3. Malaysian Female Graduates
   National dress or formal dress which covers the *aurah.
   Cream coloured tudung/ headcover
    
4. Non-Malaysian Female Graduates
   National dress or formal dress which covers the *aurah.
   Cream coloured tudung/ headcover

Covering of 'Aurah' (including head and neck) applies to all females as it is part of IIUM Convocation Dress.

Graduands are required to observe the following dress code fully. The following are not allowed on stage:

1. Wearing 'Purdah'.
2. Turbans.
3. Wearing skirts with slits.

Dress code for shoes are as follows:

1. Male Graduands
   Leather shoes (black/dark)
   Sportswear and sandals are strictly prohibited
2. Female Graduands
   Black or dark brown shoes.
   Striking coloured shoes are prohibited.
   Avoid high heels and slippery shoes.

GRADUANDS WHO DO NOT COMPLY TO THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE CEREMONY

The type of robe can be recognised according to the stripes:

THE COLOUR OF THE HOOD (ACCORDING TO KULIYYAH)

Colour of Hood : Grey

The collection of convocation attire is scheduled as below:

1. You are required to fill in the Robe Form and choose your size accordingly.
2. You must submit the duly filled Robe Form during the robe collection week.

Notes:

1. The last day to collect the convocation attire is 9th October 2009. Any collection after the deadline and time schedule will not be entertained.
2. Since there is a limited number of sizes for robes, the graduands are advised to come early.
3. Collection of convocation attire must be done by the graduands themselves to ensure suitability
4. If convocation attire cannot be collected or returned personally, please fill in the Authorisation Form and give it to your authorized person.
5. Graduands are not allowed to alter the robes. A fine of RM 500.00 will be imposed on any damage or lost.

Returning of convocation attire

All graduands are required to return the convocation attire as follows:

1. A fine of RM10.00 per day will be charged to graduands who return the convocation attire after 18th October 2009 (Sunday)
2. Please do not hand-wash convocation attire. They should be dry-cleaned only.
3. The University has the right to claim compensation if the convocation attire is damaged or lost.
