The Competency Level Assessment (CLA) programme for CL 4 and CL 5 was organized by the Centre for Professional Development (CPD) from 19 to 22 April 2010. A total of 54 IIUM academic staff attended the programme. The CLA programme incorporates an online phase (2 months) and a face-to-face session. At the end of the face-to-face session, participants present their research proposals (CL 5) or draft articles (CL 4).
In the recent Ta'aruf and Intellectual Discourse No. 36 (TIDE 36), the Rector gave his mandate to a total of 52 new IIUM academic staff. The TIDE 36 programme which was conducted by the Centre for Professional Development (CPD), incorporated a new theme with the objectives of enhancing teamwork, instilling the spirit of a "murabbi" and enhancing intercultural understanding. The programme was held from 12 to 15 April 2010 at the Felda Residence Trolak, Perak.
The Centre for Professional Development (CPD) organized the Basic Teaching Methodology Course (BTMC) from 12 – 16 April 2010. A total of 54 IIUM academic staff attended the programme. In this BTMC, self-directed online modules were introduced to reduce the number of days of the face-to-face sessions from two weeks to one week. After completing this course, participants will go through a teaching practicum session with their appointed mentors in Semester I, Session 2010/2011.
The Centre for Professional Development (CPD) organized its first public lecture for 2010 on 18th March 2010 at the Banquet Hall, from 9am to 11am. The invited speaker was Prof. Datuk Ghauth Jasmon, the Vice Chancellor of University of Malaya. The lecture was entitled "Quality and University Ranking: UM's Experiences in Enhancing Quality Research and Publication Culture".
The Centre for Professional Development (CPD) organized its Islamic Enhancement & Evaluation Programme (IEEP) from 13th to 15th March 2010 at the Pulai Desaru Beach Resort, Johor. The theme for this IEEP was "Quality Services Through Teamwork".
One of the main events during the IEEP was a community service visit to a village called Tg. Balau, about 15 minutes drive from the Resort. A sharing moment was organized with the community in Tg. Balau, who are mainly fishermen.
