THE CONFERENCE
We are pleased to announce that the Department of Bussiness Administration, Kulliyyah of Economics and Managment Sciences , International Islamic Univesity of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur will be organizing an International Conference on Marketing in Kuala Lumpur, 23rd - 24th June 2010. The theme of the conference is "Glocal Issues and Challenges "
This conference will provide a plafform for local and international scholars, marketing practitioners, prefessionals and students to convene, discuss, and share new and different perspectives regarding issues and challenges in the field of marketing. Being the first Islamic university in Malaysia, we believe we can enhance our role by building networks locally and internationally in developing, extending and sharing knowledge among marketing scholars, especially among the developing Asian and Muslim countries across the globe.
A conference of this nature that looks at both global and local ( glocal ) issues will allow us to re-examine the roles of marketing in sustaining business survival and business growth in the OIC member countries and in the Asian region especially in today's unstable economic conditions of the capitalist block of the global market.
Following the surge in the demand for halal products and services among the Muslim population around the world, there is an increase in awareness of corporate responsibility and obligation among Muslim marketing practitioners on the need to comply with the rules of the Shariah in the conduct of marketing activities. In the light of this new development among the Muslim population, it is imperative that a conference of this nature be organized to discuss what products and services can be offered as well as how or market them in line with the Islamic practices. In addition , this conference is also open to discussions on developments of various aspects of conventional marketing strategies and practices.
