Course Description
STUDIES IN THE QUR’AN AND SUNNAH (IRKH 5010)
This course will focus on the meaning of Revelation, the definition of the
Qur’an, its history, the Sunni theory of Qur’anic exegesis,
and others. It should be remembered that more attention would be given to
modern issues. This course deals with the meaning of the Sunnah, its compilation,
the development of the craft of textual analysis among Muslim scholars,
the authority and authenticity of Sunnah and others. However much attention
will be paid to contemporary issues.
SHARI’AH AND ITS APPLICATION IN DAILY LIFE. (IRKH 5020)
This course is to make students aware of the position of Islamic Law in
the contemporary world and the attitude of the of the different segments
of Muslim societies towards Islamic Law and its application in contemporary
development of Islamic legal thought and attempts of Muslim scholar to find
possible solutions for present issues facing the Muslim Ummah.
AQIDAH AND ITS IMPLICATION IN DAILY LIFE (IRKH 5035)
The course emphasises the importance of addressing the new social and theological
issues from the Tawhidic perspective. This necessitates a genuine understanding
of the implication of Tawhid in a multi-religious society
ISLAMIC MORAL & SPIRITUAL VISION. (IRKH 5040)

ISLAMIC INSTITUTIONS (IRKH 5050)
This course discusses the family in Islam, its role on social life; principles
of integration and justice; Islamic political institutions and its applications;
Islamic economics and concept of development. Its will also highlight some
major Islamic Institutions.
ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION (IRKH 5030)
The aim of this course is to expose and acquaint students to the Islamic
Civilization, both in history as well as the present States-of affairs,
from which studies, it is hoped, and the future may be ~ bled. Aspects of
the Islamic Civilization such as culture, institutions, scholarship, the
aesthetics, etc., will be studied.
