About the Kulliyyah
The Kulliyyah of Laws was one of the two Kulliyyahs formed at the inception of the International Islamic University Malaysia in 1983.
The Kulliyyah started with 3 teaching staff and the first batch of undergraduate students of 59. The first programme offered was Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Honours). In 1986, the Kulliyyah started its Master of Comparative Law (MCL) and Ph.D programmes. In 1989, the double degree programme LL.B (Shari'ah) (Honours) was launched.
In 2000, the Kulliyyah was proclaimed as Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, named in honour of the late Tan Sri Prof. Ahmad bin Mohamed Ibrahim; the founding father of the Kulliyyah.
Introduction
Islamic law has always been the basis for law in Muslim countries, but now the influence of English Common Law and European Civil Law is strong and widespread that it is necessary for Muslims to study and understand these systems.
In Malaysia, a judge or lawyer must be qualified in Malaysian Law English law and Islamic Law to do his job effectively. With rapid development of the Malaysian economy and increasing trade links of Malaysia with other countries, there is a growing realization that Malaysian Lawyers and law teachers should have adequate knowledge of legal developments in the ASEAN and the Commonwealth countries.
The Post-Graduate programme of the Kulliyyah is designed to lay emphasis on the comparative studies of the major legal systems of the world.

To become the best Law School in the region with the highest standards of academic and intellectual excellence, with particular focus on the harmonisation of Civil Law and Shari'ah Law.
Mission
To have a pool of specialists competent in both Civil Law and Shari'ah Law who are able to provide authoritative consultation to individuals, organisations, corporations, government departments, professional bodies, NGOs and any other interested parties.
To ensure that all graduates manifest their acquired academic and professional knowledge, and skills in all their relevant areas of studies.
